How To Work With Me
My process is broken down into three phases: before the shoot, on the day, and after the shoot.
To give you a sense of what the experience of working together will be like, these stages are outlined below.
The Process
1. Pre-Production
– pre-shoot phone conversations or meetings
– advanced scouts (if applicable)
– creating a contact list
– contingency planning
– addressing any logistical concerns.
During this time, I will also send the terms which must be agreed to prior to shoot, as well as a deposit invoice for 50% retainer payment.
2. Shoot Day
After arriving at the location, greetings, walkthrough, and getting settled in and set up, the shoot will begin.
While I will be photographing as much as I can during the shoot day, I may spend anywhere up to 60 minutes on each shot when needed.
I may move furniture and adjust or move everyday items to enhance the décor for the best possible images.
3. Post-Production
This is where the entire pre-production and shoot day process culminates into final images.
It is common for the post-production part of an image to take as long, or longer, than the shooting process. Up to seven business days should be allowed for completion of this part of the process.
The photographs are culled, processed, and delivered in a final proof-sheet for the client to make selections from.
Processing typically includes colour corrections, contrast and exposure adjustments, retouching distractions and advanced Photoshop techniques to create the ambient look I am known for.
A separate quote can be provided for any extra processing following the proof-sheet stage.
My Approach
I show up early and I leave late.
I explore every facet of a location to capture the unique sense of place I feel from the moment I arrive.
This allows me to be agile and shoot as much as I can during the day, discovering moments and chance encounters with light, weather variations, and people.
Spending this time gives me the flexibility to shoot as many images as we need to get the job done properly.
It also gives you the opportunity to select the final images you want processed that you feel best represent your project.
I can also advise on what images I think really captured the project on the day.
What Does It Cost?
Dependent on your requirements and budget, I have rates for individuals & multi-party cost sharing.
Standard pricing is made up of four components.
1. Creative Fee
This component reflects the time, skill, and resources it takes to complete a project. The Creative Fee is based on per day.
2. Image Usage Licencing
Image licensing (per image) is based on project and scope of use – awards, web, advertising, social media and marketing, corporate brochures, tender submission documents, slideshows, videos, studio screensavers, intranet, office posters.
No third party use allowed except when negotiated prior.
3. Post-Production
Includes grading, general retouching, storage, backup, culling, digital delivery, archiving of the final images.
4. Assistant
Depending on the scope of the project, an assistant may be required to make the day run significantly smoother.
It provides me the time and energy to create better images.
