Project - Historic Bijou Theater - Knoxville, Tennesssee

Photographing the historic Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee was both a technical and artistic challenge, as the building’s architecture tells a story that spans more than a century.

From the ornate detailing of its preserved interior to the careful balance of modern updates woven into its historic fabric, my goal was to highlight both the theater’s grandeur and its intimate character.

Capturing the sweeping lines of the proscenium, the richness of the decorative plasterwork, and the warm interplay of light across the auditorium required a deliberate approach to composition and exposure.

Architectural photography in a space like this is about more than documenting—it’s about revealing the atmosphere and cultural significance of a landmark that continues to serve its community.

The project consisted of photographing the interior of the theater.
